ALMADEN QUICKSILVER MINING MUSEUM

  This small museum presents visitors with an interesting array of exhibits of the history of mercury mining and the lifestyles of mining communities at New Almaden. A mine diorama duplicates the interior of a mine shaft, giving visitors a feel for working underground. Other exhibits explain the changing technology of how the liquid mercury was extracted from mined cinnabar ore. Hours vary by season, please call the museum for operating hours before your visit.

HAKONE ESTATE & GARDENS

  Hakone Gardens is the oldest Japanese and Asian estate gardens in the Western Hemisphere, established in 1915. It is an authentic replica of Japanese Samurai or Shogun’s estate garden, designed by one of descendent of the imperial gardening family members. A tranquil place of peace and harmony. 10am-5pm weekdays; 11am-5pm weekends.

HISTORY PARK AT KELLEY PARK

  Complete with paved streets, running trolleys and a cafe, this 14-acre site has the charm and ambiance of times gone by. Begin your visit at the Museum Store in the Pacific Hotel located in the center of History Park. Pick up a map and a list of open buildings or sign up for a docent led tour. Visit the stunning exhibit in the Pacific Hotel Gallery. Browse through the Museum Store for book by local authors and interesting gifts. Tue-Sun 10am-4pm; Sat & Sun 11am-4pm. $6 parking fee.

  The Museums of Los Gatos is a nonprofit educational institution
dedicated to enhancing community life through the preservation,
exhibition, and interpretation of the regional history, and in increasing community appreciation of the fine arts. History Museum at Forbes Mill,

MONTALVO ART CENTER

  Montalvo is nestled in the beautiful foothills above Saratoga with 175 acres of hiking trails and gardens. Walking tours are available and led by volunteer docents throughout the fall, winter and spring. Learn about Senator Phelan’s country home, his life and his friends, the arts center then and now. Montalvo is not open to the public during private villa and grounds rentals, please contact the art center before your visit. Open daily from 9am-5pm
