  The major diving attraction along Mendocino coast is abalone and spring opens the season. The rocky and scenic Mendocino coastline features extensive kelp forests providing excellent habitat for both abalone and fish. Contact Sub Surface Progression Dive Shop for additional information including places that provide easy public access. Season begins April
1st, ends June 30 and starts again in August throughout the fall.

BIRD WATCHING AT PUDDING CREEK ESTUARY

  April and May brings a variety of birds flowing peacefully between redwoods, wetgrasses and meadowlands, and the adjoining Pudding Creek Estuary. This area serves as a natural habitat to hundreds of bird varieties. During your visit you may encounter the American Coot, Mallard, Bufflehead, and Ruddy Ducks as well as Canada Geese, Tundra Swans, Grebes, Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Osprey, Quail, and others.

  The Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in California offering everything from colorful displays to
thunderous waves. With manicured formal gardens, a dense coastal
pine forest, native flora, fern-covered canyons, rhododendrons, magnolias and conifers, and flower-filled coastal bluffs overlooking the blue ocean,
the garden is a special jewel of the Pacific Coast.
